Dr. Courtney Lyder is Dean and Professor of Nursing at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Nursing
In the past 10 years, Dr. Lyder has received, as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator, nearly $7 million in research and training grants related to various topics in gerontology and wound care. He has published two books, 50 journal articles, 20 book chapters and 70 abstracts. His articles have been published in such prestigious journals as the Journal of the American Medical Association, Archives of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Surgery, Advances in Skin and Wound Care and Journal of the American Medical Directors Association.
As an international expert on wound care, Dr. Lyder has delivered more than 500 lectures on this discipline in the United States and internationally. He serves on seven journal editorial boards and reviews manuscripts for 15 medical and nursing journals. Dr. Lyder is a senior consultant to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where he has influenced development of regulations and policies related to care of elders.
He was awarded the 2007 Thomas Stewart Founder's Award by the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. This award was created to honor an individual who has made significant contributions in the area of pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, especially in the areas of public policy.
