Katie Adamson, Ph.D., R.N., a Navy Veteran, earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from Washington State University in 2011 after serving the 2010-2011 academic year as a Fogarty Scholar in Botswana. Currently, Dr. Adamson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington Tacoma where she teaches in the B.A. of Healthcare Leadership, B.S.N., Ed.D., and M.N. Programs. Her research interests include simulation, performance evaluation, and psychometrics. Her proposed research incorporates evidence from her dissertation in the scale-up of a pilot-study she published in 2012 comparing learning outcomes between two experiential teaching strategies. Evidence from this follow-on study, Comparing experiential learning strategies: Virtual and human patient simulations, will help optimize the use of simulation in nursing and healthcare education.
