Donna W. Roberson, Ph.D., F.N.P.- B.C.

Dr. Roberson is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. Her research focuses on prevention of HIV infection in women who are incarcerated or detained in jail. The goal of her research is to reduce risk of acquiring HIV by women who are detained in jail and to determine efficacious strategies for this population that may eventually lead to the development of a standard prevention education protocol for use in jail settings. Dr. Roberson received her B.S.N., M.S.N., and a post-Master’s certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner from East Carolina University and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at the University of North Carolina, she was a Pre-Doctoral Fellow in the Center for Interventions to Prevent and Manage Chronic Illness and served as an interventionist in a large study aimed at reducing HIV acquisition for incarcerated women. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Roberson’s memberships include Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing – Beta Nu Chapter, Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, Southern Nursing Research Society, and Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science.
