Robin Knobel, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N.

Robin Knobel, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N. is a Professor at University of South Carolina College of Nursing. After completing her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Nevada, she practiced as a neonatal nurse for 13 years and then completed an MSN from East Carolina University as a neonatal nurse practitioner. After 13 years as a N.N.P., Dr. Knobel completed her Ph.D. in Nursing at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is passionate about improving morbidity and mortality of premature infants. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on basic physiologic processes related to body temperature and perfusion in extremely premature infants and uses longitudinal measures over the first 30 days of life. Dr. Knobel’s recent grants include an R15 award from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Nursing Research, and the March of Dimes Foundation “Saving Babies, Together®” award through the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses to study thermoregulation in premature infants. Dr. Knobel currently teaches in the graduate nursing program sat Duke University School of Nursing. She serves as a reviewer for Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing, Journal of Perinatology, Neonatal Network, and Pediatrics. She is Vice Chair for grant review for the American Nurses Foundation.
